August Trainer of the Month Spotlight

The FAST Trainer of the Month is designed to help you get to know the trainers and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists at FAST. Our August Trainer of the Month is Greg Stein, facility manager at our North Scottsdale location. Read on to learn more about Greg and his outlook on fitness, wellness and what motivates him.

What’s your educational background?

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Wellness. My credentials include CSCS, CPT, USAW and TRX, allowing me to work with a variety of clients here at FAST.

What inspired you to embark on the fitness journey with your career?

It was the perfect field that combined all of my academic interests into one pathway; science, psychology, mathematicsand, of course, sports.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give anyone interested in becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist?

There are many different avenues you can take once you obtain your CSCS. Physical therapists, dietitians and strength coaches of all levels often opt to have this specific certification.

What’s your favorite workout style?

I like a jambalaya of workout styles because they each challenge me differently. Whether its Olympic weightlifting, body building or sports style training, I find enjoyment in human movement and physical challenges.

What’s your favorite song to listen to when working out?

My all time favorite song working out or not is ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem.

What’s your favorite thing to eat after a workout?

My favorite thing after a grueling workout is a post workout shake that has peanut butter, banana, oatmeal, almond milk and vanilla vegan protein powder. This way I get a heavy dose of all my macronutrients and it tastes absolutely amazing.

What’s one food that you can’t live without?

This is a tough one because I love so many foods—but I don’t want to imagine life without pizza.

What’s the best advice you have ever received?

People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

What motivates you?

The opportunity to help better people’s lives through fitness. I wake up everyday and get to make people better and that truly motivates me.
