Jason Roberts has a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, and is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS). Jason has years of experience helping athletes greatly improve their abilities, and one of his clients, Emilio G., is FAST’s athlete of the month. Jason describes how Emilio earned his place this month:

Emilio G. has been training with FAST at our Surprise location for about a year and a half. He began training with us after completing physical therapy, and his goals were to increase strength, power and lean body mass. During the first 12 weeks of personal training, Emilio made significant gains in every aspect of his performance. He put on 10 pounds of lean muscle and he increased his vertical jump, broad jump and back squat far beyond what he was able to do in initial tests. In particular, his back squat increased by over 40% during a 12-week program!

Since then, Emilio has continued to improve in all areas. He is currently pushing to improve his vertical leap by 10 inches from his initial test, and he currently has the highest vertical jump recorded of anyone in his age range during my time here at FAST. His success in reaching and setting new performance goals can be attributed to his motivation to make every rep count, and his dedication to consistently show up ready to work hard and improve all aspects of his performance. We are happy to have him training with us and proud to announce him as our athlete of the month.

The athlete training at our FAST location focuses on improving power, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, and reducing injury. To keep our athletes from hitting plateaus, we utilize 12 week long periodized resistance training programs. We also take into account what an athlete is doing during their sport season to avoid overuse injuries. Our programs include dynamic warm-ups, pre-habilitation exercises, plyometrics, Olympic lifts (with proper progressions based on ability level and training age), and sport-specific drills and strength exercises.
