September Trainer of the Month Spotlight


This month, we’re putting the spotlight on D’Andre Penn, CPT and ASU alumni. Read on to learn about his Chipotle order, what inspired him to get into the health and fitness industry and what motivates him most.


What inspired you to embark on the fitness journey with your career?

I had a great experience with a physical therapist after my first knee surgery. They did a lot for me physically and mentally to help me get back to playing football, and I want to pass that same experience on to my clients and athletes.


What’s your favorite workout style?

I like high intensity workouts that incorporate a variety of compound movements to get the whole body moving and working.

What’s your favorite song to listen to when working out?

This changes all the time but currently it’s “Mob Ties” by Drake


What’s your favorite thing to eat after a workout?

A chicken bowl from Chipotle or anything that has a good balance of macronutrients (carbs, protein, and fats).


What’s one food that you can’t live without?

Eggs. Breakfast is my favorite, and usually my most creative meal of the day, and eggs are always a staple of that.


What’s the best advice you have ever received?

Know your worth and never accept anything less.


What motivates you?

Becoming too complacent or stagnant with where I am in life. Like most people, I have goals that I strive to hit, and I keep those on my mind as I attack every day.
